snappy Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Yup I finally decided to cough-up and go for LPG conversion with a flash lube system that I was told I needed to have with this engine. This will be my 5th LPG car but the first I've had done myself. I'll have it back for Saturday afternoon. It'll be really nice to be back on gas again. It'll make my planned camping trip around a big bit of europe a little cheaper. In France/Belgium LPG is around 0.65 cent/lt Quote
ghr Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Can you take LPG vehicles on the Channel Tunnel? Quote
Saif Rehman Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Can you take LPG vehicles on the Channel Tunnel? Definitely not through the Channel Tunnel i.e. Eurotunnel - maybe on the ferry though. Quote
snappy Posted August 14, 2012 Author Report Posted August 14, 2012 no, not on the train but there's no problem at all on the boats Quote
snappy Posted August 14, 2012 Author Report Posted August 14, 2012 many people think gas is unsafe. It isn't. It's very stable. You pump it and store it in the tank as a liquid. It becomes gas when the liquid is warmed as it passes thru the evaporator unit which is plumbed into the cooling system and then injected as gas thru the injectors. Quote
alan_131 Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 (edited) I don't think anybody here is arguing that a properly done lpg conversion is unsafe, just that for reasons they don't go into Eurotunnel won't take lpg/cng powered vehicles. This link ... is from a google of eurotunnel and lpg.Why it's ok to lug 50kg of bottled gas in a camper but not 50kg in a car fuel tank is anybody's guess..... v6mikey Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 Do you have a 2.3 or a v6? I looked into an LPG conversion a while back for my v6, but looked like to much of a faf for the v6! Quote

Hi, I have the 2.3 model. It's a faff on matter what engine you have but thats the fitters problem. Once it's up as running it's totally brill. It's been on mine now for a while and worth every penny. I do not worry about the cost of fuel one bit. I just get in and drive. To cover the other poster about the Euro shuttle train. At their bluddy rip off prices they can stuff their effing train ! Quote
viperclive Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 Hi, I had my 2.3 converted 5 years ago at a cost of£1.700 which I got back in the first year. It's a prins system and I have had a few problems although not major ish!!! I would not be able to afford to run the old girl otherwise, I would recommend a conversion it pays in the end. Quote
